The ever growing religion in America

Some recent surveys suggest that religion in America, as well as other parts of the world,
are on the decline. I'm personally okay with that, as I view most aspects of any organized
religion, man-made garbage. I suspect that money and materialism within the modern day church
could be partially to blame, but then I can only speak from my own experience. One study I read
about, linked materialism and becoming "Americanized" as a contributing factor among Latinos.
On the other hand, religion is definitely on the rise if you consider football. If you are a fan
of any of the teams within the SEC, then you know what I'm talking about. It's okay to 'worship'
you're favorite team as long as you're honest and own it. New to the growing congregation next
season- Missouri and Texas A&M. Just remember to put something in the offering plate when it's
passed brothers and sisters, i.e. consistent ranking in national polls and a possible Heisman
contender.
We can't stop with college football. Now that the University of Alabama has dominated LSU in "The Game of the Season/Decade/Century", we sports-loving Americans desperately need another fix. Enter Tim Tebow and Tom Brady, or as I like to call it, "The Man of God vs. God's Gift to Women" Bowl. I'd mention their teams, but who really cares. The other guys participating in this game are simply supporting players of these two mega watt stars. So get ready American football fans, it's about to go down. I predict Tim Tebow will take an occasional knee in prayer and I think I speak for every red-blooded American woman out there,
I hope that maybe Tom Brady will take off his jersey after every successful touchdown pass. Can I get an Amen?

opinions

August 31, 2011

Opinions. I believe everyone should have one. If you don't have one, well for the love of all that is holy, go get one. I decided to start writing this blog in order to vent my rage on anything from public education, to the war in Afghanistan, to how badly big government completely sucks. Hopefully, it will keep me from taking it out on innocent people, such as: Walmart employees, lazy co-workers and rude little girls, who roll their eyes when you say anything to them.
By the way, this blog has been largely inspired by the lyrics of 'Rage Against the Machine', which I listen to a lot when I'm at the gym. They not only make me want to run harder, longer and faster, they make me want to get off my ass and onto my soapbox and maybe do my part to change the world for the better. That is, I believe, the responsibility of every person on the planet. (More on that later.) Tune in if you like. Any and all feedback will be appreciated.

Remember where you came from, Lisa
